IPTV box setup for Italian TV: portal guide

An IPTV box with a portal is the easiest option if you want something that feels like a traditional cable box. Here’s how to set it up for Italian TV, step by step.

An IPTV box with a portal is a dedicated device: no app store to manage and no player to choose. You enter a portal address once, and the box shows the channel list and TV guide just like a cable box. That’s why it’s popular with older family members and anyone who just wants to switch on and watch.

Setup is based on the MAC address, a code that uniquely identifies the box. You send it to us, we link it to your subscription and send you the portal address to enter in the settings.

Because the box does only one job, there’s very little that can go wrong once it’s configured: no app updates to manage, no account sign-ins, and a remote that works just like the one from a cable company. It’s an ideal choice for a parent or grandparent’s TV, or for a second home you visit only a few times a year.

Time needed: about 10 minutes

What you need

  • An IPTV box that supports portal login.
  • An HDMI cable for the TV and, ideally, an Ethernet cable to the router.
  • The box’s MAC address (on the label or in the system info menu).
  • The portal address we send on WhatsApp once the MAC is linked.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Connect the box

Connect the box to the TV with HDMI, then to power and to your router with an Ethernet cable.

  2. Find the MAC address

It’s on the label under the box or in the system information menu, in a format like 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX.

  3. Send us the MAC address

Send it to us on WhatsApp when you order. We link it to your subscription and send you the portal address.

  4. Open the portal settings

On the box, go to Settings, then System settings, then Servers and finally Portals (names vary slightly by model).

  5. Enter the portal name and address

Under “Portal 1,” type any name and enter the portal URL exactly as we sent it.

  6. Save

Save your settings and go back to the previous menu.

  7. Restart the portal

Choose “Restart portal,” or switch the box off and on.

  8. Wait for it to load

The box connects to the portal and the channel list and guide appear within a minute or two.

  9. Check the time zone

In the system settings, set your local time zone so the guide shows the right times.

Tips for a better picture

  • Always use Ethernet if you can — portal boxes work best wired.
  • Write down the MAC address: if you change boxes, you’ll need to send us the new one.
  • For grandparents, create a short favorites list of their usual channels.
  • If the box lists two MAC addresses (Wi-Fi and Ethernet), send the one shown in the system info.
